Midnight Madness Softball Tourney Success
$7,823 Donated To Davis Education Foundation
Lakeview Hospital proudly hosted an all-night softball tournament known as Midnight Madness. The tournament was held as a fundraiser for the Davis Education Foundation, a non-profit entity which serves to fund school programs in Davis School District that are not otherwise supported by tax dollars.
Beginning at 6 pm on Sept. 17, 2010, the tournament was a sell-out with 20 teams and six teams on a wait list. A double-elimination tournament, co-ed teams consisted of 10-12 players each and skill level varied from novice to expert.
“We all had a lot of fun,” said Michael Hale, whose team was known as the Junk Food Dawgs. “It was really great to see so many people at the tournament. The concessions, the band, and the posting of the colors really set the mood for a fun night.”
Despite tired eyes and draining fatigue, teams played through the night until 5:30 am, when the top two teams were determined. These teams, YDKDY (You Don’t Know Do Ya?), from Salt Lake City, and The Grand Slammers from the Ogden area were awarded with prize money in the sum of $875 each. The third-place team was Agri-Service from Logan, Utah, which walked away with a $500 prize.
“This tournament was tremendously successful,” said Lakeview Hospital CEO, Rand Kerr. “Hosting an event that involved our entire community and raised money for needed educational supplies in our school district is a wonderful opportunity.”
A big thank-you to our Midnight Madness sponsors:
